Many of us have asked this question at least once during the long excruciating hours of being stuck at home: what should I do? If you are one of them, welcome to the club. You've come to the right place, because I will be mentioning some ideas for things to do during quarantine. Of course, it is understandable that some of you will be frustrated with this list because there might be some things that aren't possible for you to do. I will try to make things as general as possible, so people of all ages can try, but I can't guarantee that everything on here will be something you will fall in love with.
Here are some ideas...
- Read a book: Go to your local library or browse the books in your house. There are also books available in the digital form, but I know that some of us want a break from being online all day.
- Play a game: You are never too young to use your imagination, and most of us have cards or board games lying around the house. If you live alone, then you might no have someone to play a game with, but you could always do a puzzle, do IQ puzzles, or play a game in which you are playing against the computer brain, like a video game or other computer games.
- Come up with a game: If you are tired of bringing out the same old games year after year, maybe it's time for something new. If you want everyone to play by your rules, make the rules of the game what you want them to be! It doesn't matter if it's completely logical, as long as it's fun.
- Make a playlist: Whether you like singing or dancing, or just listening to music, a playlist can be handy on a rainy day. Make a list of your playlists or have someone compile one for you!
- Sing or dance: If you tried the activity above (or if you already have some music at the ready), put it to use! Start jamming out to your favorites, whether that's vocally or physically.
- Chat with your friends: Whether it's in person or online, talking to your besties is always a necessity. No matter how much you lose in possessions, if you have good friends, you will always be rich. If this had happened when there was no technology, you wouldn't have been able to do this either!
- Spend time with your family: Another necessity. Family is who you choose to surround yourself with, not just the people you have a blood relation with. No matter what type of family you have, spend time with them.
- Exercise: Get your body moving! Even if you are feeling tired, once you get that endorphin rush, you will definitely be energized.
- Explore your neighborhood: Take a walk and enjoy nature. Maybe you will find some shortcuts you had never noticed before!
- Come up with outfit ideas for a week: Prepare yourself to go places, even if there is nowhere to go. You never know when things might become normal again.
- Design your dream room: Interior designing is a hobby of mine. Since it's just your imagination, money is no object! Just be ready for a reality check when you get back from your furniture fantasies.
- Clean your house: It might not look like the dream home you had in mind (see activity above), but it's still an improvement. I know many of us don't like cleaning or organizing, but you will definitely feel like you accomplished something.
- Play with pets (if you have any): If you have a pet, go and cuddle with them! If you have fish, or other un-huggable pets, you could spend some time admiring them. And if you don't have any pets at all, go to your local pet store (if it's still open) and spend some time admiring those cuties.
- Make crafts: There are many tutorials that you can find on YouTube or other sites. Get some inspiration, some materials, and get ready for a serious crafting session.
- Decorate your house for a holiday: Right now, it's around Halloween (keep in mind that you might not be reading this at the time when I am posting it), so we decorated our house. You could even craft your own decorations, and kill two birds with one stone (no birds were harmed in the making of this post).
- Start gift shopping/ making early: Put some thought and effort into your gifts this year, especially since we meet other people less often. When you DO get to meet for a holiday or special event, it will be worth the effort to see the smile on their face.
- READ TeenConnexions!!!! I know, I know. You probably anticipated that one. What can I say? It's true! I read all of your comments, and I try to post as often as I can. If you are bored, come on here, and see if there's anything new!
That's about it for this post, but there are definitely more activities that you can do.
thx for the great ideas!
