Teen Talk- feelings during quarantine
Hello readers! I know I don't usually start out my posts like this, but this post (if you couldn't tell by the title) is a little more personal, and I wanted to talk directly to you! I know that many of us have been feeling confused and having a lot of other feelings during these 'uncertain times', and I wanted to show you that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! So many other people are feeling the same way, and I wanted to express that in this post! Comment down below if you have felt any of these before!
Frustration: This probably sounds familiar to many of you. The fact that there's nothing we can personally do to stop this pandemic is quite frustrating. I know that I have personally been counting down the days for this horrible year to be over1 Although the start of a new year will not automatically cure anything, hopefully the new beginning will give a fresh look on everything.
Loneliness: After being at home for, what, 9+ months now, we are definitely starting to feel a little closed in. Even though there's good reason for not being able to go anywhere (safety first, right?), it's inevitable to feel a little lonely.
Excitement: I know, I know, I probably sound like I'm contradicting myself, but I know that I have personally felt too excited for the littlest things. Has anyone else felt like screaming because you get to go to a store? I also act crazy from time to time because of the bottled up energy in me... anyway, let's move on to the next one before I embarrass myself too much.
Inspiration: Although we are starting to get bored from all of the alone time, I admit that I was able to use that time to inspire myself to take on new projects! I started knitting a blanket, started creating videos of myself playing covers of songs, and found my favorite songs and singers!
There are probably a lot more words we can use to describe quarantine, but these are some of the big ones that come to my mind.
If you feel you need to speak to someone and express your feelings, that is perhaps the best thing to do. Seek out a friend, parent, cousin or maybe a teacher who is willing to hear you out and help you overcome any frustrating or lonely thoughts and cheer you up.
Everything you said in you’re post is all very true!! It has been really hard for me to do my choir on a zoom. It is definitely quite difficult to engage, and sing at the same time online. I can’t wait to read more!!! 👏👏
